JOB TITLE: Project Engineer (Industrial Placement) / Placement Project Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION:

CCP Gransden is pleased to be recruiting Intern Project Engineers for its high value manufacturing facility in Ballygowan, County Down. These exciting roles will primarily support the company’s activities in the manufacture of advanced composite parts and assemblies for customers in the aerospace, defence, and automotive sectors. The ideal candidates will be key players in the Engineering Team within a dynamic and agile company. The candidates will have a willingness to be hands-on in the development and execution of new and challenging projects.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the preparation of responses to Requests for Information and responses to Requests for Proposals in support of new business activity
  • Further develop the company’s approach to estimating manufacturing costs in support of new business activity, including the further refinement of the costing spreadsheet.
  • Explore new opportunities for relevant Research & Development in support of company strategy.
  • Support the Lead Project Engineers in the delivery of key contracts.
  • Support the Engineering Manager and Senior Project Engineers in further developing the company’s engineering capability to promote continued business growth.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Academic Requirements: Must be pursuing an honours degree in Engineering or a related discipline at a UK or Irish university.
  • Placement Availability: Must be available for a 12 to 16 month placement.
  • Driving Requirements: Must hold a valid UK or ROI driving licence.

DESIRABLE CRITERIA:

  • Solid Technical Foundation: A good grasp of engineering principles related to your field, like using CAD software, skills you've likely developed through coursework, labs, or personal projects.
  • Problem-Solving Mindset: Ability to analyse and troubleshoot challenges, as you've probably done in group projects or practical assignments, with a proactive approach to finding solutions.
  • Clear Communication: Able to explain complex ideas clearly in presentations, lab reports, or group discussions – a key skill for working well with colleagues and explaining technical ideas to those less familiar with the details.
  • Willingness to Learn: Ready to pick up new skills and knowledge quickly, a quality you’ve shown in adapting to new coursework, tools, or project requirements, and a must for a fast-paced work environment.
  • Team Player: Experience in working within a team, whether through group projects, sports, or society involvement, showing that you can both lead and support your colleagues when needed.
  • Attention to Detail: Careful and thorough approach in your work – from checking calculations in assignments to proofreading reports – to ensure high accuracy in your output
